The shade structure is a design proposal for the recently opened Mapel Orientation Gallery at Huntington Library in Pasadena, CA. This piece was developed as an attraction point to gather people to the orientation center upon arrival to the Huntington. The structure is deliberate in form with each faceted surface stretching between “branches”. The perforated surfaces allow light to filter through, diffusing the boundary between full sun and full shade as you pass through into the gallery.
