An existing Venice walk street site with an uninspired existing structure gets a façade refresh. A series of parametric studies varies geometric elements, materiality, density, and form to maximize the capabilities of screening. In addition to filtering light and minimizing solar heat gain, the screen provides privacy from adjacent neighbors while directing the eye to the partial beach and ocean view. The screen elements continue along the ceiling, connecting interior and exterior.
