A line-based nest of paracord and PVC tube represents the cloud of social categorizations that individuals each inhabit. The term Intersectionality encapsulates the effect of the complex and cumulative aggregation of different forms of discrimination a person experiences as these categorizations combine, overlap and intersect. Intersections appear, disappear & reformulate as viewers circulate around the piece, illustrating the complex topic. The piece is part of a public art exhibition sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
